Take a walk down Crybaby Lane

My weekend was a bit exciting. In addition to watching to see if Hurricane Irma was going to wash my mommy out to sea, and working on final line edits, Pandamoon Publishing set up the pre-order link for the kindle version of CRYBABY LANE: Book 2 of the New Royal Mysteries (click image), and later today the print version should be up for order as well. Mom's doing fine and should be back in her home by tomorrow, so I can turn my full attention to freaking out about promotion possibilities. When Book 1, THE MEAN BONE IN HER BODY, came out last Christmas Eve, I had the luxury/limitation of the holiday season, during which no one was scheduling or going to readings, and conferences and festivals weren't going to happen until Spring. However, Crybaby is coming out in peak lit season, as it were, and I'm looking forward to several events, starting with these:

This is going to be a super-fun event with 57 local authors reading and signing books at the Cascades Library in Potomac Falls, with food available from Loudoun County based food trucks. I did a similar event in Martinsburg, West Virginia in May, where authors and chocolate vendors were situated in businesses on the main drag, and it was a terrific way to meet and talk to readers. There was some talk of a Meet-the-Author Scavenger hunt being coordinated in Middleburg, VA, but I'm not sure what the status of that event is.

In the evening on October 7, I'll be reading at Wonderland Ballroom as part of E. A. Aymar's Noir at the Bar event called "Six Minutes in Hell." Kind of a shift in mood, which I think you can gather from the poster:

There will be a saber awarded to the audience favorite, which is always Eryk Pruitt.

But the big deal, for me anyway, is that the following weekend on October 14 is the book party for Crybaby Lane at Fall for the Book. There will be a whole slate of mystery/crime related panels, despite the fact that so many of our crimey-wimey folks will be in Toronto for Bouchercon that weekend. It just shows how tremendous and supportive the crime and mystery community is, especially when you are affiliated with Sisters in Crime:
